In the last decade it became clear that the future – for alternative energy sources. Yes, they require relatively large initial cash infusion, but then you can use them for many decades. One problem – the need to provide for them sufficiently large areas of land that the same Europe can not afford. But everything is solved by using the limitless expanse of the Sahara. It is this and plan to do the twenty major German companies.
That each of us is aware of the Sahara? In the first place that it occupies a huge area, there is hot and a lot of sun. Ideal conditions for the operation of solar cells.
It turns out that if the solar panels to lay only 0.3 per cent of the Sahara, the resulting energy will be enough to fully provide electricity throughout Europe. That is why twenty-German companies provide start as massive and laborious process.
In the project, despite the crisis, ready to take part are large international corporations like Siemens and Deutsche Bank. It is planned that the total capacity of solar project will reach 100 gigawatts / hour. It needs 10-15 years of work on the implementation of the project and the 400 million euro investment.
In addition to the energy, the project pursues many more goals. It is planned that a huge number of solar panels will be able to concentrate a water that will be released in artificial ponds. The presence of this water should change in the lives of the inhabitants of the desert. As planned, some of it has to go to the irrigation and harvest produce from them, and some – on the personal needs of the population. It should also contribute to the successful implementation of the project on planting forests in the Sahara, which was announced last year.
To protect the project from the political turmoil, which now and then flare up in different African countries, the solar panels will be concentrated not in one country, but in several.
