I became your enemy because I tell you the truth
“You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” A. Lincoln

For further context on the matter, The WinePress reported several weeks ago that an updated bill was presented to be voted upon by the World Health Assembly (WHA – the WHO’s governing legislative body) on the 22nd-28th of May: “Biden Admin. To Hand Over U.S. Sovereignty To The WHO On May 22nd, Granting Them Authority To Lockdown All Of America And Other Nations.”

You can read that report for more specific details, but the updated bill proposed allowed the WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, to declare a new health emergency at his own volition without any actual hard tangible evidence, and could leverage the power of nations to intervene on the WHO’s behalf if the declared nation with the health emergency did not respond within the short window provided. In short, virtually all healthcare principles and regulations would flow through the WHO, and nation’s sovereignty would not matter.

After some deliberation, multiple nations raised questions about this move and rejected the bill, with some threatening to break all ties with the WHO.

African nations got the ball rolling. Many African countries have also been very cautious and reserved when it came to implementing Covid-related policies, lockdowns, and vaccine mandates.

While mainstream media did not want to acknowledge the actual contents of the bill, Reuters reported that ‘the African group expressed reservations about even this narrow change, saying all reforms should be tackled together as part of a “holistic package” at a later stage.’

On May 25th – which was also national Africa Day – Botswana spoke on the behest of its other 47 AFRO members, explaining that they would not provide their support for these proposals, reported by Australian blog One Nation.

We find that they are going too quickly and these sorts of reforms can’t be rushed through.

But it was just African nations that rejected this proposal. Others included: Russia, China, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia, and Brazil.

Several developing countries have said that the WHO has too many platforms for negotiation, and it is simply not manageable.

Nithin Ramakrishnan, consultant for the Third World Network.

Brazil in particular was very outspoken, so much so President Jair Bolsonaro emphatically rejected the WHO’s Pandemic Treaty, though related, it is separate from the other IHR amendments.

Brazil will not get into this. Brazil is autonomous […] I’ve already spoke to our foreign relations cabinet and if that proposal goes forward, it won’t be with Brazil.

Bolsonaro stated

Canadian conservative member of Parliament Dr. Leslyn Lewis tweeted that Canadians won and the amendments were shot down.

Howbeit the war still rages on. The Tennessee Star explains, ‘A working group, however, has been established to continue the process of discussing proposed IHR amendments and the separate new Pandemic Treaty.’

‘The IHR Amendments proposed timeline spans September 30, 2022 to May 2023 – the next WHA meeting. A working draft of the new Pandemic Treaty is now proposed for August 1,’ the outlet added.

Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) also celebrated the defeat of the bill, but still advised Americans to remain vigilant.

[Americans] must continue to be vigilant against any temporary, strategic retreat to ensure that the Biden Administration does not try to quietly reintroduce its egregious amendments in the dead of night – especially in light of its initial submission on January 18, 2022 without any public notice whatsoever.

One Nation echoed a similar sentiment:

In the end, the WHO and its wealthy nation supporters were forced to back down.

They have not given up though – far from it. Instead, they did what they always do and ‘pivoted’.

At their request, a new working group was convened to make “technical recommendations on the proposed amendments” which will be re-submitted along with the Pandemic Treaty, at the 77th Health Assembly meeting in 2024.

Here in Australia, we need to keep the pressure up on our own parliaments, both Federal AND State, up the ante, and don’t ever look sideways.
